SIGN UP EARLY!
Some of the AMD's best events require just a little pre-planning:
Utah Mountain Adventures will lead attendees of all skill levels from the All Mountain Demo base at Solitude into the world-class terrain of Big Cottonwood Canyon on a backcountry adventure. Choose your own adventure: backcountry (with skins), sidecountry (without skins) or snowshoe. View tour times and sign up at here, or visit outdoorretailer.com/AMD.
SKI MO: Gore-Tex Wasatch Ski Mountaineering Race
Open to all from seasoned vets to first-timers, Ski Mo will test your speed, strength and endurance on any randonée, telemark or split-board gear. Remember, racers must have skins for the ascents, not snowshoes or walking.
Get to the Demo early, get your work done and line up for Ski Mo's 2 p.m. start!

Take off your base layer and upgrade to a new HH Warm! Your old base layer will be donated to a local mission. If you are too shy to strip down, you can donate $20 to charity.
Last year at the AMD Helly Hansen collected over $3,000 and 100 base layers for SPLORE a non-profit organization. Be sure to check out a preview of Helly Hansen’s new base layer technology at the demo, LIFA Flow, a revolutionary approach to moisture management.

Can You Dig It hosted by EarnYourTurns.com's Craig Dostie
To raise awareness of a critical phase in any avalanche rescue scenario, Dostie will be organizing a shoveling competition among five manufacturers to show the importance of teamwork, strategy, tools, and muscle. Five 3-man teams will view for bragging rights and the opportunity to show off the best way to dig, and the best tools for excavating a buried avalanche victim. The competition promises to be a fun spectator event and learning experience for all. Sponsored by MSR.

Avalanche Safety in the Media
Outdoor Retailer Winter Market was launched in 1990 out of a need to focus the market's energy on issues and innovation relevant to the core activities of backcountry wintersports on public lands. And now, 25 years later, backcountry and avalanche safety are still at the forefront of the industry. Here are some recent articles and projects helping to bring attention to the critical issues around backcountry wintersports.
